Pregnant woman dead, 2nd woman injured in Capitol Heights shooting

A pregnant woman is dead after being shot Tuesday in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Her baby — who was delivered at the hospital through emergency surgery — is currently in critical but stable condition.

The shooting happened just before 5 p.m. in the area of Quinn Street and Southern Avenue in Capitol Heights.

The pregnant woman was pronounced dead at the hospital. She was identified as 18-year-old  J’Lyn Quinones.

A second woman was also shot. Prince George’s County police said she has injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police said the shooting is under investigation and they’re asking anyone with information to contact them online or at 1-866-411-TIPS.

The National Association of Counties, which represents 3,069 counties throughout the country, is holding its 2021 annual conference in-person and virtually from July 9 to July 12 in Prince George's.
