Water main break snarls traffic on part of Lee Highway in Fairfax

A water main break is causing traffic delays on a portion of Lee Highway on Sunday in Fairfax County, Virginia.

The rupture happened around 7 a.m. — cracking the pavement and spilling water across the roadway.

The WTOP Traffic Center reported one lane was getting by in each direction of Lee Highway after the roadway was initially closed between Ellenwood Drive and Mainstone Drive.

Water crews are on the scene, but there’s no word on when repairs will be finished.

Park Police officers indicted in Bijan Ghaisar’s death have cases moved to federal court

Two U.S. Park Police officers, who shot and killed Bijan Ghaisar in 2017 and were indicted in Fairfax County on manslaughter and weapons charges, will have their criminal cases moved out of a Virginia state court and into an Alexandria federal courtroom, a judge ruled Friday. Officers Alejandro Amaya and Lucas Vinyard were indicted in October 2020 by a Fairfax County grand jury, after the U.S. Justice Department decided to not file criminal charges against them.
