Pedestrian dead in Fairfax County hit-and-run

A pedestrian was killed in what the police are calling a hit-and-run crash in Springfield, Virginia.

Daniel McKay, 63, of Springfield, was crossing Backlick Road near Edsall Road at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday when he was hit by a car driving south on Backlick Road, the Fairfax County police said.

The police said the driver of the vehicle drove off; McKay was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are asking anyone who saw the crash or anything suspicious at the intersection to call them at at 703-280-0543.
