Pedestrian struck and killed on Rockville Pike

A man was struck and killed by a driver on northbound Md. 355 (Rockville Pike) in North Bethesda, Maryland, early Friday morning.

A preliminary investigation showed that a 2019 Nissan Sentra was traveling north on Rockville Pike approaching Grosvenor Lane when it struck James Eugene White Jr., 74, of North Bethesda, who was attempting to cross Rockville Pike. White was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver — Keisha Dannielle Francis, 51, of Baltimore — stayed on the scene and was not injured. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

The busy road remained closed for more than three hours as Montgomery County police detectives reconstructed the collision. The road reopened around 8:30 a.m.
