Kyle Allen to start for Washington Football Team

The Dwayne Haskins experiment at quarterback is over for now for the Washington Football Team.

In a shocking move, the team announced Wednesday morning that Kyle Allen will start at quarterback Sunday against the Rams. Alex Smith will serve as the backup.

Haskins, who threw for a career-high 314 passing yards in the loss to the Ravens, will be third-string on the depth chart.

First-year Washington head coach Ron Rivera tabbed Haskins to be his starting quarterback before the start of the season and there was really no competition for the job. Rivera even expressed confidence in Haskins, who the team used a first round pick on in 2019, after he committed four turnovers in a loss to the Browns.

Kyle Allen played for Rivera with the Carolina Panthers and is familiar with the offensive system that is being used in Washington.
