Isaias is teetering on the border between hurricane and tropical storm, and it’s about to drop serious rain on the Southeast and the D.C. area. But not everyone knows how to pronounce it. The National Hurricane Center says the pronunciation is ees-ah-EE-ahs — think of it as four syllables. And via CNN, here’s WFTV meteorologist Irene Sans on how to pronounce it. She uses an accent over the second “i,” which helps make it clearer:

The site Oh Baby! Names says Isaias is the Late Latin and Spanish form of the Hebrew name Isaiah — and used in some versions of the Bible. WTOP’s Zeke Hartner contributed to this report.
