Layoffs related to the novel coronavirus pandemic have reached the Four Seasons Hotel Washington D.C. The hotel filed a layoff notice with the District that affects 413 employees, according to D.C. records.

The notice was filed March 20 but only appeared on the city’s public website of Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification events Tuesday.

The Four Seasons is still open but it has closed its restaurants and bars, according to a statement posted on its website. We’ve reached out to Four Seasons for more information and will update this post when we hear back.

Many hotel companies have laid off or furloughed employees as restrictions on travel related to the coronavirus have virtually eliminated hotel demand. Some of them are maintaining employees’ health benefits or have paid some kind of severance. Many of them plan to rehire the employees once business goes back to normal.
