Glenmont Metro station reopens after ‘full-scale’ emergency drill

The Glenmont Metro station was closed from the morning hours until 2 p.m. Sunday due to an emergency drill. The full-scale emergency drill involved Metro Transit Police, Montgomery County and regional partners, including emergency response personnel from Prince George’s County and the District of Columbia. The station itself was shut down, but free shuttle buses operated between Wheaton and Glenmont until 2 p.m. Metrobus service to the station operated normally. The Glenmont Metro station was closed from the morning hours until 2 p.m. Sunday due to an emergency drill.

Metro will run trains until midnight 7 days a week beginning Sunday

Those who have been hoping for late-night Metro service are in luck, as the transit agency announced it will be extending service to midnight seven days a week beginning Sunday. The extended operating hours are part of a series of improvements passed by the Metro Board of Directors, which include more all-day rail service, high frequency bus routes and generally improve service region-wide.
