JBG Smith Properties (NYSE: JBGS) filed plans with Arlington County on Tuesday to redevelop a half-dozen buildings in Crystal City near where it is helping Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) establish its second headquarters.

The Chevy Chase-based developer wants to remake about 2.6 million square feet spread across five multifamily buildings and one office, plans JBG Smith teased more than two years ago in an interview with the Washington Business Journal. That was before JBG Smith became Amazon’s landlord and development partner, but the plans it filed Tuesday are apart from the space it has set aside for the e-commerce and cloud computing giant.

Among the properties the developer is now focusing on are: 2000 and 2001 S. Bell St., 223 23rd St., 2300 and 2525 Crystal Drive. All are within a half mile of the Crystal City Metro station and Amazon’s new headquarters and are part of the larger National Landing, an umbrella term that also includes Pentagon City and Potomac Yard that Amazon revealed…
