Car strikes, kills 83-year-old woman in Montgomery Co. church parking lot

WASHINGTON — An 83-year-old woman has died after her vehicle rolled backward and struck her in a church parking lot in Boyds, Maryland.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue officials responded to a collision at the parking lot of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church at 19620 White Ground Road shortly before 9 a.m.

Kathleen Virginia Howard, of Olney, had exited her 2006 Lexus RX 330 in the church parking lot when her vehicle rolled backward and struck her, according to a news release.

Howard was transported to a hospital where she later died of her injuries.

Investigators are still looking into where Howard was in relation to the vehicle when she was struck. This is an ongoing investigation.
