Police hope rosary can help identify remains found in Germantown park

WASHINGTON — Montgomery County police say they discovered human remains in a shallow grave in a Germantown, Maryland, park earlier this month, and they hope a rosary and other personal items can help identify them.

The remains were found in early June in Seneca Creek Park on Black Rock Road.

The victim is a boy, and likely a Hispanic teenager between the ages of 15 and 17, police said. He may have been from the Hyattsville area.

Police believe he died in approximately February or March of 2017.

  • Black knit gloves
  • Black USPA sneakers, size 10
  • Black socks
  • A black Guess belt with a silver rectangular buckle, size 32
  • White and blue striped Timberland polo shirt

Officials are investigating the death as a homicide, and ask anyone who may be able to identify the victim or his killer to call 240-773-5070. Crime Solvers of Montgomery County is offering a $10,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to an arrest, and ask anyone with information to call 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
