Pike’s Peek 10K to close Rockville roads Sunday morning

WASHINGTON — On Sunday morning, approximately one mile of Route 355 North in Rockville, Maryland, will be closed for the Pike’s Peek 10K race.

The race will use the northbound side of the road from Metro Station Drive to Gude Drive from approximately 7:40 a.m. until 8:10 a.m.

Other road closures include:

  • Redland Road, between Rockville Pike and Crabbs Branch, from approximately 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • The two center lanes of Rockville Pike, from Gude Drive to Rose Avenue, will be blocked from 6:30 a.m. until the last runner passes. Traffic will be allowed in the right lane at all times.
  • Southbound traffic on Rockville Pike will be diverted around the finish festival from approximately 8:10 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

Washington Gas fined $750K in case connected to 2016 Silver Spring apartment explosion

Maryland's utility watchdogs ruled that Washington Gas Light should be fined $750,000 in a case tied to the utility's failure to file annual reports on its stated plan to replace mercury service regulators. In its order posted Dec. 18, the Public Service Commission said that it decided against issuing a fine connected to WGL's failure to complete its plan to remove mercury service regulators. Instead, it limited the financial penalty with WGL's failure to report on its progress.
