Michelin Star chef brings Greek restaurant to new Fannie Mae HQ

WASHINGTON — Nicholas Stefanelli, owner of Italian restaurant Masseria near Union Market, has signed on for a Greek restaurant at Fannie Mae’s new Midtown Center headquarters at 1100 15th Street, NW.

Stefanelli’s yet-unnamed restaurant will occupy 12,000 square feet, one of several restaurants expected to occupy street level space at the two-building Midtown Center development.

Carr Properties also announced West Coast coffee chain Blue Bottle Coffee has signed a lease for 2,000 square feet.

“We are thrilled to have Nick Stefanelli, a Michelin Star rated chef, and Blue Bottle Coffee joining as our initial street level tenants at Midtown Center. Our vision for the project is to create one of the best street retail experiences in the city where people can have fun and enjoy incredible dining,” said Carr Properties CEO Oliver Carr.

Midtown Center includes two office towers separated by what the developer has described as a European-style public plaza with 44,000 square feet of street retail space.

The East and West towers of Midtown Center are also connected by bridges suspended above the plaza.

Blue Bottle Coffee and Stefanelli’s restaurant bring the development to 89 percent leased. About 70,000 square feet of office space and 30,000 square feet of retail space remains available.

Phase one of Midtown Center is finished and the final phase is expected to be done in June.
