WASHINGTON — Montgomery County, Maryland, is adding new Capital Bikeshare stations in the area that county officials refer to as the Pike District — from the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro stop to Twinbrook in Rockville.

The installation of the new bikeshare docks — including one that will be added at North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose area  — will mean that the county has bikeshare bikes available at nine of the county’s 12 Metro stations.

It also brings the county’s total Capital Bikeshare network to 82 stations.

County Executive Ike Leggett was among the luminaries celebrating the installation of the eight new bikeshare stations Thursday.

“These stations offer more options for residents and workers to commute between their home and workplace to the Red Line, and to visit local stores and restaurants without getting in a car,” Leggett said in a statement.
