Md. woman arrested for murder of great-grandmother

WASHINGTON — Montgomery County police have arrested Shannon Marci Jefferson Lozano, 22, of Wheaton, Maryland, for the murder of her great-grandmother.

The victim is Doris Elizabeth Shelton, 80.

Both Lozano and Shelton lived in the same address in the 10500 block of Cascade Place in Wheaton.

On Friday, March 23, just after 3 p.m., Shelton’s husband found her unresponsive and not breathing in their home.

When police arrived, they declared Shelton dead.

Investigators discovered trauma to Shelton’s body and started to consider Lozano as a suspect.

Police arrested Lozano near the home. During her interview, investigators said Lozano implicated herself in the assault that killed Shelton.

Lozano has now been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond.
