Virginia, North Carolina governors wager beer on basketball game

WASHINGTON — Some North Carolina brew will be on the way to Virginia after the Cavaliers defeated the Tar Heels in the ACC Tournament Saturday night. Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam made a wager with North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper on the men’s basketball game between the University of Virginia and the University of North Carolina. He tweeted the bet at North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, offering a six-pack of beer if UVA loses to UNC.

Less than two hours later, Cooper responded.

No. 1 Virginia beat No. 12 North Carolina 71-63 in the Barclay Center in Brooklyn. Cooper graciously accepted defeat and tweeted that the brews were on their way.
