Pedestrian killed in Manassas crash

WASHINGTON — A driver struck and killed a pedestrian Thursday morning in Manassas, Virginia, police said.

Shortly before 7 a.m., police responded to the area of Hoadly Road near Galveston Court — an area with a shopping plaza — for the report of a crash involving a pedestrian, who has been identified as Juanita Nettina Menefee, 52, of Woodbridge.

She was trying to cross Hoadly Road, between Galveston Court and Apollo Drive, when the driver of a Toyota Camry, traveling northbound on Hoadly, hit her, Prince William County police said. Menefee was not on a designated crosswalk, they said.

She was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries.

The driver of the Toyota stayed at the scene. Police are saying she is a 31-year-old woman from Woodbridge, but did not release her name.

Police continue to investigate and have not charged anyone yet.
