WASHINGTON — A man is dead after an early Friday crash where he slammed into a tree and flipped his car over, Prince George’s County police say. And they want to talk to a man who was a passenger at the time of the crash. Cpl. Lamar Robinson tells WTOP the crash happened around 3:30 a.m. on the 15200 block of Derbyshire Way in Accokeek, Maryland. A man who was riding in the car fled the scene before police could arrive, Officer Tyler Hunter says. The driver of the car, 28-year-old Joseph Michael Lyons, of Accokeek, was killed. Based on witness accounts, police describe the passenger as an adult African American male with dreadlock-style hair wearing a black jacket. Investigators are working to determine what happened.
