WASHINGTON — There are new developments in connection with the arrest of a man at the Annandale Parade over the weekend.

The man, Mike Stark, is a writer for an anti-Trump website.

A bystander’s video shows a Fairfax County police officer telling Stark to get out of the street before he curses at the officer and then appears to resist arrest.

Stark is eventually taken to the ground by multiple officers and handcuffed.

At a meeting Wednesday in Alexandria to discuss police reform efforts, Fairfax County Supervisor and Public Safety Committee Chairman John Cook said he saw the video.

“I knew there were questions about it, so I sent a note to Mr. Schott asking him to take a look at it.”

Cook is referring to Richard Schott, the county’s Independent Police Auditor who’s been on the job for about 6 months.

Because the video starts with the confrontation already in progress, Fairfax County Police Chief Ed Roessler said he wants to see more footage.

“I need community help. Give me video of what happened before,” Roessler said.

He would like to hear from people who saw what led up to the arrest.

“We’re still conducting interviews, and I need people that witnessed this to contact us so we can interview as many people as possible to determine what the facts are,” he said.

Stark was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

At a Tuesday news conference, Roessler defended the actions of the officers that took part in the arrest.
