Nationals tie MLB record for most home runs in inning

WASHINGTON — The Nationals are having a record-setting game against the Milwaukee Brewers Thursday. The Nats tied Major League Baseball records for home runs in an inning (five) and consecutive home runs in an inning (four) in the bottom of the third. The four consecutive home runs were also a team record. After starting pitcher Max Scherzer walked to lead of the third inning, Brian Goodwin started off the home run barrage, followed by Wilmer Difo, then Bryce Harper (his second of the game) and Ryan Zimmerman. After Daniel Murphy flew out, Anthony Rendon hit the team’s fifth home run of the inning for Washington. This is the 18th game this season in which the Nationals have scored 10 or more runs in a game — the most in MLB, the Nationals said. The Nationals are the eighth team in MLB history to hit four consecutive home runs.

The Washington Nationals showed off their trophy from winning the 2019 World Series in front of their local fans in South Florida during a parade on Thursday, February 20. Spring Training kicked off recently, and the first preseason game is Saturday, February 22, against the Houston Astros, the team they defeated in the World Series. Before the parade started, Michael A. Taylor and Sean Doolittle mingled with fans, some of whom were wearing hats supporting the local Miami Marlins. However, the West Palm Beach fans showed their support, as players like Kurt Suzuki, Trea Turner and Howie Kendrick rode in cars and buses through the main streets of Clemantis.
