$65,000 controversy over Canadian community’s park stairs (Video)

WASHINGTON – Residents seeking help with a tricky, steep path in a Toronto community faced an equally steep challenge with the city when it came to putting in a staircase.

Global News reports that an Etobicoke resident took it upon himself to build a staircase leading to and from a community garden; it took him just 14 hours and $550. Local leaders had estimated the stairs would cost $65,000-$150,000.

On Friday morning, Global News reports that city workers torn down the DIY staircase after determining it was unsafe.
