WASHINGTON — Annapolis Road in Prince George’s County has reopened to traffic hours after it was closed while police believed a would-be robber had barricaded himself inside a check cashing business.

Police entered the business after several hours and found no one inside. A store employee escaped the business and asked a passer-by to call 911 after the gunman entered the store and assaulted the employee shortly after 9 a.m. Monday.

Police shut down a stretch of Annapolis Road in both directions near the Capital Plaza shopping center. The road reopened about 2 p.m.
