Video: Bystander captures Alexandria shooting

WASHINGTON — The New York Post acquired video from the scene of the Alexandria, Virginia, shooting that critically injured House GOP Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana Wednesday.

The video from a bystander appears to show rapid rounds of gunfire. The gunman, 66-year-old James Hodgkinson, was fatally wounded in an exchange of gunfire with police.

Editor’s note: The video could be disturbing for some viewers. It automatically plays and appears to show Scalise lying wounded, and contains some strong language.

The video was captured close to the field at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park as gunfire erupted Wednesday morning. In it, the witness can be heard asking “I assume people have been calling 911 already.”
