Germantown teen dead in Howard Co. crash

WASHINGTON — A 19-year-old Germantown teen is dead after hitting a tree in an early morning Woodbine, Maryland, crash Sunday, according to Howard County police.

Pierce B. English was traveling south on Route 94 around 3:50 a.m. in a 2000 Saturn SL2.

When he was just south of Brittle Branch Way, his car left the road for unknown reasons and struck a tree.

English was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation by revealed that English wasn’t wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Despite almost two inches of rain in a one hour period, no serious damage was sustained in Maryland's flood-prone tourist destination, which suffered devastating floods in 2016 and 2018.
