National Doughnut Day freebies and discounts

WASHINGTON — Whether they’re plain, slathered in chocolate, sprinkled with sugar or stuffed with jelly, doughnuts make people happy.

Here’s where to find the deals on Friday:

Duck Donuts:  Get a free doughnut with any purchase.  Also, all receipts printed Friday will include a coupon good for a free half dozen doughnuts when you buy a half dozen.  The coupon is valid Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays until Aug. 31.

Dunkin’ Donuts:  Buy any beverage and get a free doughnut.

Fractured Prune:  Grab a free OC Sand doughnut at participating shops.

Giant: Purchase any single doughnut for 50 percent off.

Krispy Kreme:  Chow down on one free doughnut of your choice.

Paradise Donuts of Linthicum: One free glazed doughnut with each purchase of coffee.

Safeway:  Get one dozen jumbo doughnuts for $5.

Sandy Pony Donuts:  At the Annapolis location only, wear anything doughnut-themed, and get one free doughnut.  Wear a Sandy Pony Donuts T-shirt, and you’ll get two free doughnuts.

Sugar Shack:  Wear a Sugar Shack T-shirt to get a free doughnut.
