Shots fired between officer, suspect in Capitol Heights

WASHINGTON — Prince George’s County police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Capitol Heights, Maryland, Saturday.

At around 9 p.m. police were called to investigate a robbery on Kayak Avenue.

A nearby officer saw a person who fit the description of the suspect and followed him. The officer and suspect exchanged gunfire. The officer was not hit. It is unclear whether the suspect was struck, Prince George’s County police spokesman Dave Coleman said. The suspect fled on foot to D.C. and is still at large.

Police ask the public for any information that may help the investigation.
