Def Leppard’s Rick Allen talks career, showcasing artwork in DC area (Video)

WASHINGTON — For decades, Rick Allen has enjoyed rock-star status, packing arenas and filling concert halls as the iconic drummer for Def Leppard. But lately, he has been packing galleries with his original works of art. On Saturday, an exhibit featuring Allen’s work will be showcased at Wentworth Gallery’s locations in Bethesda, Maryland, and McLean, Virginia. A portion of the sales generated during the event will be donated to Project Resiliency’s Warrior Resiliency Program. He’s expected to make appearances at both galleries on Saturday. The exhibit features items from his “Rick Allen: Drums for Peace” and “Art to Wear” collections and includes his personal drums, which have been painted and transformed into art. Allen stopped by the Glass-Enclosed Nerve Center Friday to talk about the band’s legacy, how he bounced back after losing an arm in a tragic accident and what inspires his art.
