WASHINGTON — Navigating D.C. can be painful.

Mentors can become foes with one mistake — especially when that mentor is one of Washington’s most famous journalists. Nobody knows that better than Barbara Feinman Todd.

The Georgetown journalism professor worked for years as a researcher for Bob Woodward. She then earned notoriety as a ghostwriter for Hillary Clinton’s best-selling book “It Takes a Village.”

Feinman Todd writes about the experience in her new book “Pretend I’m Not Here: How I Worked with Three Newspaper Icons, One Powerful First Lady, and Still Managed to Dig Myself Out of the Washington Swamp.”
