2 men shot, 1 killed in Montgomery Village

UPDATE 2/12/17 11:28 a.m.: The five individuals detained by Montgomery County police in connection with a Friday homicide have been released from custody after questioning. The five were in a home adjacent to the shooting death of Wassi Harron Raheem Young, 20, in the 9500 block of Hawk Run Terrace in Montgomery Village. Police are continuing their investigation aimed at finding the shooter. Anyone with information can contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.

WASHINGTON — Police found another victim in a shooting that happened Friday in Montgomery County that killed one person.

Wassi Harron Raheem Young, 20, of Hyattsville, Maryland, was shot in the 8500 block of Hawk Run Terrace in Montgomery Village around 2 p.m. Friday. Montgomery County police arrived and found the victim in the parking lot area of the neighborhood. He died from injuries at the scene.

Another man, 23, arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds, and upon speaking with the victim police found that he was shot in the same incident that occurred Friday. Police do not believe that the shootings were random.

“There were about five subjects detained who were in the home immediately adjacent to where the victim was shot and fell,” said Captain Paul Starks, spokesman for the Montgomery County police.

“Those subjects have been taken into investigative detention and we are speaking with them to determine what information they have and if any one of them may have played some part in this shooting.”
