ELKRIDGE, Md. (AP) — A misspelled sign on a Maryland highway has been taken down after a sharp-eyed driver spotted a typo that had gone unnoticed for months.

Chris Boyle tells The Baltimore Sun that he was driving on Interstate 95 last week when he noticed that the sign for the Patapsco River was misspelled. The sign said “Patapasco River.”

The sign was taken down after the newspaper contacted the State Highway Administration. The agency’s spokesman, Charlie Gischlar, thanked the driver for notifying officials of the misspelling.

Gischlar said the sign was installed last summer between the Howard County line and U.S. Route 1 in Baltimore County. He said a new sign will be put up by spring.
