Alleged burglar found smoking in bed, in Va. homeowner’s clothes

YORKTOWN, Va. (AP) — Police say a man broke into a Yorktown home, ate salmon, put on the homeowner’s clothes and was found smoking a cigarette in the homeowner’s bed.

The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that a neighbor went to check on the home Saturday afternoon because the homeowner was out of town. Deputies say the neighbor found a package for the homeowner in the back yard. The contents, which included salmon, had been half-eaten.

The neighbor found a man smoking a cigarette in a bedroom. Police say the man ran away, but was tackled outside by the neighbor, who held him until deputies arrived.

Thirty-eight-year-old Samuel Ciopasiu, who police say is homeless, was charged with breaking and entering and larceny. His lawyer did not return a call seeking comment.
