Motorcyclist dies in crash on intersection of Old Columbia Pike

WASHINGTON — A motorcyclist has died Tuesday night after a collision with a car at the intersection of Briggs Chaney Road and Old Columbia Pike in Montgomery County, police said.

Emergency personnel responded to a crash in that area around 6 p.m. The motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Old Columbia Pike while the driver in a Toyota Camry was heading northbound on the same roadway, making a left turn onto westbound Briggs Chaney Road.

The motorcyclist has been identified as Addisu Mesfin, 21, of Burtonsville. Mesfin died at the scene.

The driver of the car was Nancy Cermak, 64, of Silver Spring, and she was not injured in the crash.

The investigation into the collision continues as Montgomery County police determine why the two collided at the intersection.
