Police: Md. after-school program counselor inappropriately touched 5-year-old

WASHINGTON — A Montgomery County after-school program counselor was arrested after he inappropriately touched a child several times while playing tag, according to police.

On several occasions between Aug. 29 and Oct. 31, 21-year-old Raul Ramos inappropriately touched a 5-year-old girl at the “Kids After Hours” program at Flower Valley Elementary School located at 4615 Sunflower Dr. in Rockville, Montgomery County police said Thursday. The touching happened during games of tag on the playground and inside the school, police said.

Child Protective Services notified Montgomery County police of the incidents on Oct. 31.

Police arrested Ramos, a Silver Spring resident, and he is charged with sexual abuse of a minor, and three counts of third-degree sexual offense.

The after-school program is privately run and is not administered by Montgomery County Public Schools.

Bond information for Ramos is not yet available.

Anyone who has concerns about possible abuse of any other children enrolled in the program, should contact police at 240-773-5400.
