3-year-old brings pistol to school

WASHINGTON – A 3-year-old boy brought a loaded gun to school in his backpack Tuesday.

The D.C. police say the security guard at Moten Elementary School on Morris Road in Southeast was checking the boy’s backpack and found a loaded semi-automatic pistol.

The boy’s father, Anthony Earl Chiles, 31, of D.C., who was seen walking the child to school, was arrested and charged with carrying an unlicensed pistol, possession of unregistered ammunition and child endangerment, the police said.
