Motorcycle crash shuts down George Washington Parkway for hours

WASHINGTON — The George Washington Parkway was shut down for hours Saturday after a serious crash involving a motorcycle and two other vehicles. A motorcyclist crashed in the northbound lane of George Washington Parkway around 9:45 a.m., police said. Pieces of the damaged bike then went into the southbound lane and struck two other vehicles. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, and another person was moved to the hospital with minor injuries, police said. As a result, the George Washington Parkway was  shut down in both directions between Spout Run Parkway and Va. Route 123 for several hours for reconstruction.
