ROCKVILLE, Md. — A Montgomery County mother suspected in the disappearance of her two children is still incompetent to stand trial, doctors say.

A psychiatric report, discussed during a Tuesday morning District Court hearing, shows Catherine Hoggle remains a danger to herself and others.

Hoggle has a history of paranoid schizophrenia and has been receiving treatment at Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center in Jessup, Maryland. She was the last person to have contact with her two children — Jacob, 2 and Sarah, 3 — who disappeared in 2014.

“The report indicates what has been the case for the last two years,” said Hoggle’s defense attorney David Felsen. “The doctors believe that she is not competent to stand trial.”

With continued treatment, Hoggle may eventually be well enough to stand trial, her doctors say.

Montgomery County District Court Judge Holly Reed set another update on Hoggle’s mental health for Dec. 12.

Hoggle is charged with counts of neglect, abduction and hindering the investigation into her children’s disappearance.
