Man charged in Woodbridge homicide

WASHINGTON — Police have charged a Woodbridge man with first-degree murder after an argument escalated into a deadly shooting on Friday.

Juan Manuel Polanco, 27, is being held without bail on the charges and has a court date scheduled for Nov. 21. Police accuse him of shooting and killing Francin Jose Solano Campo, 23, of Woodbridge during a fight.

The incident was reported at around 8:45 p.m. Friday.

Police said arriving officers found Campo suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body when they responded reports of a shooting in the 3200 block of Wyndale Court in Woodbridge.  Campo later died at the hospital.

Police said early Saturday that a suspect had been taken in to custody and later identified Polanco as the alleged shooter.

Campo’s death marks Prince William County’s 17th homicide of the year.
