WASHINGTON — A second man has been arrested and charged for the killing of Deeniquia Dodds, 22, of Northeast D.C., police said.

Jalonte Little, 26, of Southeast D.C. was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree felony murder while armed for the death of the transgender woman who was shot a few blocks from her home on July 4.

Dodds died more than a week later on July 13.

Another man was also arrested Thursday in connection to her death. Shareem Hall, 22, of District Heights, Maryland, was also charged with first-degree felony murder while armed.

The motive was likely robbery, police said, but the investigation continues.

“The U.S. attorney’s office has the ability to bring enhanced charges for a hate crime, so that is something that will be considered when all of the evidence is brought forth,” added interim D.C. police Chief Peter Newsham outside police headquarters on Thursday when the first arrest was announced.
