You might want to reconsider having waffles for breakfast. Or at least a certain type of Eggo waffle, at the moment.
Kellogg Company announced plans to recall about 10,000 cases of its Kellogg’s Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffles because of possible listeria contamination.
Though the company says it hasn’t received any reports of illness, listeria infection can be deadly, especially for young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. In pregnant women, it can cause miscarriage and stillbirth.
Healthy people could experience symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, nausea and more.
Kellogg says those who have the product should throw it away and seek a full refund from the company. No other Eggo products were affected, according to Kellogg.
Affected product boxes carry a UPC Code of 38000 40370, a weight of 12.3 ounces and a better-if-used-before date of Nov. 21, 2017 and Nov. 22, 2017. Customers and retailers received the products in 25 states, including Colorado, Delaware, Maryland, Nebraska, New Jersey and Virginia.
