Police investigate teen’s rape near Montgomery Co. school

WASHINGTON — A teenage girl was raped near a Montgomery County high school Thursday, and police are asking for more information from anyone who may have been in the area.

A teenager was walking in the area of Olney-Sandy Spring Road in Sandy Spring, Maryland, near Sherwood High School between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. Thursday when she told police she was approached by a man. The suspect used no words and directed her to a grassy area off the road where he raped her, Montgomery County police said in a Friday news release.

The victim — whose age is not being released — returned home and reported the assault to her parents. Police spoke with the victim at a nearby hospital where she was receiving medical treatment.

Police do not yet have a suspect description, and are working to confirm details about the man and the assault.

Anyone with information about this sexual assault is asked to call the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5400 or Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
