Police investigating homicide in Howard Co. apartment

WASHINGTON — Howard County police are investigating the death of a man who may have suffered traumatic injuries in his apartment.

Around noon Tuesday, police said they responded to an apartment the 8700 block of Hayshed Lane in Columbia, Maryland, for a welfare check. When they arrived, they found a man in his 60s who died “as a result of unconfirmed traumatic injuries,” police said in a news release.

The man had not been seen since Sunday.

Police said they are investigating the death as a homicide.

The man’s identity will be released after next-of-kin have been located and notified, police said. The cause and estimated time of death will be confirmed after an autopsy.

Police are actively investigating the case and are asking anyone with information to call 410-313-STOP.
