WILLIAMSPORT, Md. (AP) — Dot Foods Inc. says it plans to create 100 new jobs in western Maryland by 2023 by expanding its Williamsport warehousing and trucking operations.

Company, state and local officials announced the plans in a statement Tuesday.

Dot will begin building a new truck maintenance facility next spring. A year later, it will begin a $35 million project to increase warehouse capacity by 40 percent.

The state and Washington County will each provide a $250,000 loan that would convert to a grant if the company meets its employment goals.

The company, based in Mount Sterling, Illinois, is a food redistributor. It buys food in large quantities from manufacturers, then resells it to distributors that are too small to regularly order truckloads from manufacturers.

The company has about 400 workers in Williamsport.
