Public invited to hearing on proposed I-95-Fairfax County Parkway ramp

WASHINGTON – Residents can give their input Tuesday night on plans for a new flyover ramp from Interstate 95 to Fairfax County Parkway, an overpass that would replace the current curving ramp.

A public hearing for the project is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Island Creek Elementary School, 7855 Morning View Lane, Alexandria. A formal presentation is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The flyover ramp would go from northbound I-95 to the northbound lanes of the parkway. Construction would also include new left turn lanes at Loisdale Road.

Virginia Department of Transportation said the new flyover will be able to accommodate more traffic.

The total cost for the project is expected to be about $87 million.
