Amtrak changes service ahead of Hermine

WASHINGTON — Amtrak is altering its service as Tropical Storm Hermine threatens to bring heavy rains and flooding to the coast.

On Saturday for the Northeast Regional line, the following changes are in effect:

  • Northeast Regional 66 (Newport News, Virginia to Boston) will operate from Richmond, Virginia, to Boston.
  • Northeast Regional 71 (New York City — Norfolk, Virginia) will operate from New York City to Richmond, Virginia.
  • Northeast Regional 99 will operate from Boston to Richmond, Virginia.

Also, Palmetto trains from New York to Savannah, Georgia, will end at Union Station in D.C.

On Sunday, the following changes are in effect:

  • Northeast Regional 88 (Norfolk, Virginia to Boston) will operate between Richmond, Virginia, to Boston.
  • Northeast Regional 96 will operate from Richmond, Virginia, to Boston.
