Man killed near Metro station in DC

WASHINGTON — A man was shot and killed near the Rhode Island Avenue Metro station in Northeast late Monday night, D.C. police said.

Police say they responded to a call about a man who had been shot in the 1000 block of Rhode Island Avenue just before midnight.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Later Monday, police identified the man as 24-year-old Tony Jermaine Gates, a Southeast D.C. resident.

Police are looking into a motive and a possible suspect.

Police are released a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who has information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case. Anyone with information can contact police at 202-727-9099.
