Woman dies after stabbing in Chantilly park

WASHINGTON — After a verbal argument, a man, 19, stabbed and killed a woman in a park in Chantilly, Virginia, around 10:50 p.m. Saturday.

The woman, Tyonne D. Johns, 35, was a caterer for an event at the Ellanor C. Lawrence Park on Walney Road near Cabell’s Mill. She was transported to a local hospital where she later died.

The man, Kempton A. Bonds, 19, of Clifton, was a seasonal employee of the Fairfax County Park Authority, according to police. Bonds was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bond.

Witnesses say that the two argued in front of a large group of people before the man pulled out a knife and stabbed the woman in her upper body.

According to the Fairfax County Park Authority, Bonds has been terminated pending the outcome of this investigation.

Eric Udler, producer of the Super Pet Expo at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, said that there has been a significant increase in pets being adopted with so many people working from home.
