Boy, 6, shot in DC

WASHINGTON — A 6-year-old boy was shot in his lower leg Saturday in Southeast D.C., police say. D.C. police said the incident occurred at around 4:45 p.m. in the 2500 block of Pomeroy Road Southeast. The shooting occurred near a playground and according to the police captain, the boy was not an intended target, The Associated Press reported. Police continue to look for two suspects who reportedly wore black masks. Police also tell WTOP that the young victim was conscious and breathing when he was taken to the hospital. He is expected to recover.
