WASHINGTON — This Sunday, WWE Superstar Mike “The Miz” will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Darren Young, the protégé of WWE legend Bob Backlund at the PPV Battleground.

The Miz will be escorted with his wife Maryse, who is a former Divas champion herself in the company.

The Miz, also referred to as “The A-Lister” after appearing in several movies, including a recent starring role in The Marine 5: Battleground, is a 5-time IC champion and was one of the cast members in The Real World in the early 2000s. He has been with the WWE since 2006, and he headlined the “Super Bowl” of WWE Wrestlemania in 2011.

The Intercontinental match at Sunday’s Battleground, live from the Verizon Center, will feature three other title matches including:

• U.S. Championship (Rusev vs Zack Ryder)
• Tag Team Title Match (The New Day vs the Wyatt Family)
• WWE Championship Triple Threat Match (Dean Ambrose v Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns)

WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte and “The Franchise” John Cena will also appear in matches as well.
