WASHINGTON — For one game only the Baltimore Orioles Double-A affiliate the Bowie Baysox will play as the Bowie Baysox. While the spelling is the same, the difference is in the pronunciation to honor a rock star.

[related_gallery align=”right”]On Friday at Prince George’s Stadium, Bowie (pronounced Boo-ee) will become Bowie (pronounced BOH-ee) for what the team is calling David Bowie tribute night. Bowie died earlier this year after a battle with liver cancer.

In addition to exclusively playing Bowie songs before the game and in between innings, the team will take the field in Bowie inspired jerseys. Throughout his career Bowie was known for his flamboyant outfits and the Baysox will wear jerseys that are splashed with many colors on front and back.

The night will end with a fireworks display with Bowie’s music as the soundtrack.
