Officer fires at man with BB gun in Oxon Hill, no injuries reported

WASHINGTON — A Prince George’s County police officer fired at a man who pointed what turned out to be a BB gun at the officer before running into an apartment building in Oxon Hill, Maryland, on Saturday, Chief Hank Stawinski said. None of the bullets connected with people and no injuries have been reported.

The incident happened in the 600 block of Audrey Lane. Police initially responded to two separate 911 calls reporting a man with a weapon. Police said a man pointed the BB gun at an officer who then fired at the man. A 23-year-old man turned himself in after police surrounded the building. The officer involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative leave immediately, Stawinski said.
